About the role
We are an early-stage, technology-driven firm, building simple, accessible and digitally delivered insurance solutions for a specialised niche in the Nigerian blue economy. We are making our earliest hires: people who will help shape how we operate, comply and scale as we work with the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), product users, insurers and technology partners.
Responsibilities
- As our Analyst – Data & Technology, you will make our data and systems work for the business. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer / Founder, you will build and maintain the dashboards and reports we run on, keep our data clean and reliable, support the platforms and tools our team uses every day, and turn operational data into practical answers that drive decisions. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role, not a research position. We want someone who builds, analyses, fixes and ships, and
- Collect, clean, organise and maintain business data across customers, policies, premiums, claims, partners and operations.
- Set up and maintain data structures, spreadsheets and databases, ensuring accuracy, consistency and easy retrieval.
- Monitor data quality, investigate errors and inconsistencies, and fix them at the source.
- Ensure data is handled securely and in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and insurance regulatory requirements.
- Build and maintain dashboards and automated reports tracking sales, policies issued, renewals, claims ratios, turnaround times and customer acquisition.
- Run practical analyses that answer specific business questions, and present clear, actionable findings to management.
- Prepare data and reports to support regulatory filings, partner reporting and investor updates, in collaboration with the Operations team.
- Spot trends, anomalies and risks early and flag them to the right people.
- Administer and support the company's digital platforms, business applications and cloud tools, including user access, configuration and troubleshooting.
- Work with technology partners and developers to define requirements, test new features and integrations, and resolve technical issues.
- Support integrations between systems (APIs, webhooks and data exports) so data flows smoothly between our platform, partners and internal tools.
- Document system processes, data flows and user guides.
- Identify manual, repetitive tasks and automate them using spreadsheets, scripts or no-code / low-code tools.
- Recommend and implement practical improvements to our data, reporting and technology set-up as the business scales.
- Train and support colleagues to use our tools and data effectively.
Requirements
- Minimum of HND or B.Sc. in Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Actuarial Science or a related field; a relevant MBA or M.Sc. is an advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years' hands-on experience in a data analyst, business intelligence, systems or technology analyst role.
- Experience in insurance, fintech or financial services is a strong advantage.
- Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, lookups, data cleaning) and working knowledge of SQL.
- Experience with at least one dashboard tool (Power BI, Looker Studio, Tableau or similar); Python, R or Apps Script is an advantage.
- Comfortable administering business software and cloud tools, understanding how systems connect (APIs, data exports, integrations) and troubleshooting technical issues.
- A builder and problem-solver rather than a researcher, focused on delivering working solutions quickly and accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to explain technical findings to non-technical colleagues.
- Integrity with sensitive data and the adaptability to thrive in a small, fast-moving team.
Benefits
- Competitive remuneration.
- Early-hire impact: help shape how the company's data and technology are built from the ground up.
